Case Study: Gothic Quarter

We acquired a 207 m² property located on Calle Ample, in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, within a landmark building dating back to 1893—a prime example of late 19th-century residential architecture.

Despite its high heritage value, the property suffered from significant functional and energetic obsolescence. From the outset, the project was envisioned as a comprehensive restoration aimed at recovering the home’s original grandeur while adapting it to contemporary standards of comfort, efficiency, and residential quality.

The intervention includes a complete spatial redistribution, a full systems upgrade, and a substantial improvement in energy performance, all while preserving and highlighting the building’s unique architectural features. This project reintroduces a high-quality, large-scale residence—a rare find in the historic center—back into the market without altering the urban morphology or replacing existing heritage.

This project exemplifies an urban regeneration model based on the deep rehabilitation of historic stock, balancing the preservation of the Gothic Quarter’s character with the creation of long-lasting economic and urban value.
